Stanton Exposes Cooper's Extreme Views on Abortion

Thursday, October 20, 2022

PHOENIX—On Wednesday night, Congressman Greg Stanton took the debate stage to discuss the stakes in his race for Congress, including the future of reproductive rights.

His opponent Kelly Cooper, a MAGA extremist, supports the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade—and supports a complete ban on abortion rights, including in circumstances when a woman is a victim of rape and incest.

On his website today, Cooper uses anti-choice language and declares that  he “will be a friend of the unborn” if elected to Congress.

Finding himself holding an unpopular position in the Fourth Congressional District, Cooper attempted to lie about his position during the Arizona PBS Horizon Debate moderated by Ted Simons.

Cooper’s position is so extreme that he even argued that women over the age of 50 should not even have an opinion on abortion rights because of his medically-inaccurate view that women of that age cannot become pregnant.

Stanton made clear that he will vote to restore a woman’s right to reproductive health at the federal level, and has voted in favor of the Women’s Health Protection Act, which codifies Roe.

“I strongly support woman’s right to make her own health care decisions, and I’ll continue to fight for it in Congress,” Stanton said. “This is one of the most important issues in this race, and my opponent cannot be trusted to protect women’s health care.”
